Dutch roots masters have a canny knack of getting the best out of singers over a full album as seen on previous LPs by Chezidek (Judgement Time, 2010), Earl 16, Apple Gabriel and Brindley Forde. Chezidek's 2nd set on the label, The Order Of Melchezidek, is a true roots classic, rating alongside his Inna Di Road for Massive B back in 2008 and is as good a vocal LP as I've heard in a long time. Positive, irie humanity vibes throughout. Its the roots album of the year for me.

The song Hail Up the Roots features on Roots N Culture 2013 (above post) but preview the whole album on soundcloud. Main feature here is Royal Order's MASSIVE Selassie Souljahz Megamix featuring Chronixx, Sizzla, Kabaka Pyramid, Protoje and some seriously heavy versions from Addis Pablo & The Suns Of Dub. The Rootsman riddim is revisited, this time showcasing the Iba Mahr, Jah9 & Chronixx cuts. Nuff Chronixx in dub!and he's hitting the UK next week! Check his new VDO.Also featuring a rootsy excursion with Ja group on the Izez riddim and tracks by singer Bryan Art from his excellent self-titled LP for ALTAFAAN. Preview it on. Silent Warrior is a killer reality selection by singjay Tydal (Train-Line Records).

It takes a few plays to lock itself into the consciousness. Eddie Murphy's remarkable but very catchy Red Light is essential, the surprise of the summer. Singer Jah comes with another powerful reality selection Help For The Youths (Reggaeland) top tune! - Concious Selections 2013. Full time wi stand up against the system. But man still haffi eat. Jamaican singjay sensation Chronixx start a fyah while rising roots artist Jah9 provides nuff serious reasoning.

A pair of big Tarrus Riley hits with Gimmi Likkle One Drop & the killer Kabaka Pyramid combination Fly Di Gate. Bobby Tenna's album Words & Melody builds on his amazing debut set and marks him as an upcoming major talent in conscious roots music. Both albums are out on his own label, check them out. Singer/deejay Lady Flame also has some fine music out there. She forwards the positivity here on Build Up. 2013 sees a welcome return to form for both Turbulence and Capleton. The Prophet blaze it up here with Meta & The Cornerstones on the Senegalese band's Ancient Power CD.

On their Soundcloud page. Jahcoustix & Apple Gabriel come with a deep roots blast against the leaders on Controller, lifted from Jahcoustix's Frequency LP out on. Next Generation Family's rootsy Raspect riddim is just brilliant and leads with Lutan Fyah's superb Respect & Manners. Another I-light is Reggaeland's Cultura featuring deejay legend Jah Thomas and Singer Jah's Prayer 2 Di Most High which is simply sublime.

The Redeemer (OneNess) harks back to the good ole days of rub-a-dub dances with Mark Wonder. Jesse Royal delivers a militant cut to the I'klek'tic (XTM Nation). Great to hear Queen Omega once more.

She really shines on the Passover (Jahlight). Biker build off torrent download. Another Maximum Sound rhythm, Leggo Di, has a real early reggae sound. Deejay Captain Sinbad celebrates Jamaica 50 here while singer-deejay Ras Demo (aka Demolition Man) come with a top reality tune.

Glen Washington & Mikey Spice contribute two outstanding conscious songs on Cyclone's Da Drama. Joe Frasier's World Peace is similar to the Full Up and features one of Sanchez's best cultural songs. Together, taken from the latest Ras Batch LP Know Thyself, is an illustrious call for unity. A heartical U-Roy combination with Harrison Stafford (of Groundation) reminds me of vintage Eric Donaldson and is from the new U-Roy LP Pray Fi Di People. CD1 leads with some killer Ken Boothe before hitting with Carlton Livingstone's massive 100wt of Collie Weed on Volcano's Hot Milk. More tuff riddim like Worries In The Dance, Darker Shade Of Black (Pass The Tu Sheng Peng), Lecturer, I Can't Hide and some wicked cuts on the Shank I Shek. Featuring Ken Boothe, Carlton Livingstone, Scion Success, Michael Palmer, Robert Ffrench, Pad Anthony, Barrington Levy, The Viceroys, Frankie Paul, Yellowman, Barry Brown, Charlie Chaplin, Wailing Souls and Al Campbell.
